A new video/musical/spoken word piece commissioned by CityArts Magazine for their annual Genre Bender event, in which I was paired with poet Sarah Galvin to create a new work. My bandmates in The Half Brothers, John Ackermann (Mandolin, pie costume), and Rick Miller (guitar, wizard hat) played one song with me live. (March 2015)
West was performed at On the Boards (Apr 2010) and Theatre Junction GRAND, Calgary AB (May 2010). (An earlier version was performed at iDiOM Theater, Bellingham WA in Feb. 2010)

Seattle Gay Scene: "So, what’s a funny, smart, talented, philosophy professor do in his spare time? He puts on a show! … Dr Nixon has created a clever, entertaining, charming show that touches on some big themes, but it doesn’t hit you over the head with them. It’s a show with brains but it’s also a show with heart and emotion."

"Neo-bluegrass trio The Half Brothers (Rick Miller, John Ackermann, and David Nixon) step through the black-and-white TV screen into an era of lively music and helpful cooking hints, when corporate sponsorship promised shiny perfection. Troy Mink takes over the kitchen as Grandma Half, while Tim Moore lends his mellifluous baritone to friendly announcements of Half Brothers Brand products that could help you more than you know — or want. Guitar, mandolin, banjo, and golden three-part harmonies help the medicine go down. Drink up. It’s good for you. The television says so."
